Chief Physician, Professor, and Master's Supervisor.
Dr. Naixin Liang graduated with honors from the eight-year clinical medicine program at Peking Union Medical College in 2003. He was appointed as an attending physician in the Department of Thoracic Surgery at Peking Union Medical College Hospital in 2008, obtained the qualification of associate chief physician in cardiothoracic surgery from the Ministry of Health in 2014, and was appointed as a chief physician in 2025. From 2011 to 2013, he completed further studies at renowned medical institutions in the United States, including Yale University School of Medicine and Yale New Haven Hospital, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, and Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH).
Clinically, Dr. Liang focuses on the comprehensive surgical diagnosis and treatment of common and high-incidence thoracic diseases, particularly lung cancer and thymic tumors. He specializes in minimally invasive thoracoscopic treatments. For lung cancer, he is highly experienced in the Multiple Disciplinary Team (MDT) model for early, middle, and advanced stages. He collaborates with radiology and interventional departments for precise preoperative and intraoperative positioning, and proficiently performs minimally invasive VATS (video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery) lobectomy and segmentectomy. Guided by precision medicine, he utilizes targeted therapy and chemoradiotherapy based on molecular biological characteristics for advanced cases.
In terms of thymic tumors, he has studied under Professor Frank Detterbeck at Yale University since 2011 and is a member of the International Thymic Malignancy Interest Group (ITMIG) in Asia. His expertise in the pathogenesis, clinical characteristics, and molecular biology-based treatments of thymic tumors aligns with international standards. He is highly experienced in minimally invasive thymic surgery (single port, single operation port, and bilateral thymectomy) and complex thymic procedures. He strongly advocates for MDT collaboration with neurology, immunology, hematology, pathology, ICU, and other departments for thymic tumors accompanied by myasthenia gravis, PRCA, GOOD syndrome, and other complications.
Additionally, Dr. Liang has extensive clinical and MDT experience in managing difficult and rare chest diseases, such as lung biopsies for interstitial lung disease, immune disease-related chest tumors, and PLAM.
Dr. Liang is also a key figure in teaching and scientific research. He served as the teaching secretary of the Department of Surgery at Peking Union Medical College Hospital from 2010 to 2011, earning the title of 'Outstanding Educator' from Peking Union Medical College and 'Outstanding Teacher' from the hospital for four consecutive years. He has published 3 SCI articles, over 20 articles in Chinese core journals, co-authored 2 monographs, and led multiple national and provincial scientific research projects.
