Dr. Xia Hong is a Chief Physician, Professor, Graduate Supervisor, and Director of the Clinical Epidemiology Teaching and Research Department. She began her medical career in 1993.
She specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of various psychiatric and psychological issues in general hospitals. She has extensive clinical experience in geriatric psychiatric disorders and psychiatric disorders complicated by endocrine diseases. Dr. Hong has systematically studied and practiced short-term integrated psychotherapy and is highly experienced in conducting both individual and group psychotherapy.
Dr. Hong graduated with a degree in Clinical Medicine from the West China University of Medical Sciences in 1993 and has been engaged in the diagnosis, treatment, and research of neuropsychiatric diseases at Peking Union Medical College Hospital ever since. She earned her PhD from Peking Union Medical College between 1995 and 2000. From 2008 to 2009, she was a postdoctoral fellow and visiting scholar at the Department of Psychiatry, University of Rochester, USA, funded by the NIH-Fogarty Foundation, focusing on consultation-liaison psychiatry and geriatric psychiatry. Since 2009, she has received continuous training in psychosomatic medicine from the University of Freiburg, Germany, and Peking Union Medical College Hospital. She currently serves as a teacher for the DAAD project 'Advanced Training in Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy in China'. She has participated in numerous national and ministerial research projects and published over 50 papers domestically and internationally.
